Seagulls were introduced in the Homestead Update.
Seagulls play an important role in Farming. They will feed on fish at Bird Feeders, and create poop, which can be broken for Seeds.
The seagulls return at night and eat unprotected crops that are growing. You need a Scarecrow or a Flare Gun to scare away the seagulls and protect your crops.
In the Merchant Update the seagulls will help upgrade your mine for a payment of 1000 Palm Wood and 2500 Stone.
